The Chronicles of Biscuit - "I Have to Smile After"

(Will do another Disney World post some time next week.  I have missed doing devotional thoughts and hope you have, too :).

The Chronicles of Biscuit:  Stories about our youngest son, Tyler, whose nickname is Biscuit.

This morning as I was fixing my hair, Biscuit came into the bathroom.  He asked for some hair gel and a comb and worked on his "style".  As he worked he said, "I have to smile after I fix it to make it look good."  I quickly replied, "That's right!  Everyone looks better with a smile."

As I thought about Biscuit's sweet statement, I thought of Little Orphan Annie's song:  "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile".  Isn't that true?  That a smile can change moods and attitudes....attitudes of our own, as well as others?  It can sometimes change good situations to bad situations?  That a smile can be the beginning of a new friendship.  Come to think of it, we may not be able to say hello to someone who speaks another language, but a smile is universal.  Everyone understands a smile!

So, let's all take Biscuit's advice.  Let's all go throughout our day thinking:  I HAVE to smile.....not just because it will make our own appearance look better, but so that we might be able to brighten someone else's day because of our smile.  And, if that doesn't work, take Annie's advice, that you're not fully dressed without it!

A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.
