Last night was our annual Fall Festival. It was a great night! It was fun and very successful. It's our PTO's one and only fund raiser of the whole year, so when it's a success, it's great!

Many volunteered their time to help with this event. It didn't matter that they didn't have elementary children or grandchildren in school. They did it because they care and wanted to help!  Thanks to all of them!

The after-school program had the children make rice krispie turkeys. So cute!

 Go, Tigers!  They're on their way to winning the gold ball again this year!!

Small Town Community Spirit

There's nothing like small town community spirit.  Nothing at all.  Yesterday our small town honored our veterans, as well as veterans from all over America.

Our Student Council held its annual Veteran's Assembly yesterday morning.  The color guard presented the flags.  Always special to watch. STUCO leader and members dressed in red, white, and blue, and did a great job organizing the special assembly.  The speaker, a pilot for the Air Force, had a great message and asked the students for questions about the job and the military.  He was very interesting!

Last night was our annual PTO Fall Festival/Carnival.  Vendor booths were set up and one of my sons even volunteered to set at my little small business booth.  He did all of the setting up of the booth, too, because I was too busy with other things!  Thanks, J!

Our elementary classes each have a game in their rooms and get together a themed basket for an auction.  The 4th grade always does an OU basket.  The money raised helps the PTO do special things for the school all through the year.

This is one of the favorite games the students play.  It was loaned to us and we really appreciate Mrs. P for letting us borrow it!  It was made by her dad, I believe.

High school classes also have games/activities.  The Junior class had a fun obstacle course that many enjoyed.  The Seniors did a haunted house - something we've never had before, but was a huge hit!

Tonight is the first playoff game for our football team.  At the end of the evening, the cheerleaders had a pep rally and bonfire. 

The fire was so pretty to watch!  The wind was blowing away from us, so that was great, too!

My daughters' Senior class (about half of them here) got together for a quick pose at the bonfire.  Just another "last" in the books and in our memories. 

Thank you to everyone who helped make this years' Fall Festival and Carnival a HUGE success.  Small town community spirit is alive in our town.  We're thankful to be raising our family here. Go, TIGERS!

Fall Festival - 2011

Our annual PTO Fall Festival was held last Thursday night.  It was a great success, raising enough money to be able to provide for our elementary school in many ways during the next year.  Because of it's success, this is typically the only fund raiser our PTO has during each school year.

The concession stand, basket auction, and silent auction is in our school cafeteria.  The high school games, preschool Bouncy House, and gift/craft vendors set up in our gym.  The gym fills up in a hurry with all of the activities!

The Kindergarten room had a duck pond.  Students enjoyed picking ducks to find out of they were a winner or not!

In conjunction with the Fall Festival is the Scholastic Book Fair.  It's a great time to get parents to visit the book fair and students to make their book selections.

This year the PTO sold elementary t-shirts during the Fall Festival.  There is also a silent auction going on during the event.

Most of the silent auction items are tiger-themed, since the tiger is our school mascot.

Each elementary class has a basket for an auction.  The Kindergarten had an art-themed basket.  How cute is that!??

The third grade had a Christmas themed basket.  It was a popular basket, as well.  Actually, this year, they were all really popular!

The Fall Festival couldn't be a success without the help of others.  I organize the event, but if it weren't for my husband, Joe, I couldn't do it.  He helps so much!  So do our children.  They clean, carry, move, etc.....just whatever we need done.  And of course, without the teachers having their games and baskets, the event wouldn't be as much fun at all.  It takes everyone working together.
