God's Word, the Bible is like a mirror for our mind and our heart. Just like a mirror shows us the outer image, the Bible shows us the inner image. We can use the Bible to examine our inner image and see how we measure up to God's standard. We can find areas that might need improvement.
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. 21Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
James 1:19-25
If we read God's Word with an open heart and an open mind, we can find areas that need improvement. As we are working on those areas, we will find ourselves looking more and more like Jesus every day. The mirror of God's Word....the perfect law that gives freedom! Thank you, God!

I have a mirror from long ago by one of my kids in VBS that they decorated with stickers and it also has a scripture on it that reminds me of this! I've used it in my bathroom for years. I really like the reminder. Sorry so wordy!
If there's something that is an eye opener and quite humbling, it's looking at yourself in the mirror of the word. Great post and a reminder of why reading the word in a regular basis is so important!
Thank you, both, for your comments!
