At Last I Realize

The Mountain Song

O Lord, I need a mountain to climb on,
Just a quiet place to go and know You’re there.
O Lord, I need to spend some time with You,
Spend the night with You, dear Lord, in prayer.

Chorus:
The greatest friend you’ll ever find Is on a lonely mountain.
The highest high you’ll ever feel Is when you kneel to pray.
The brightest light you’ll ever see Is when you close your eyes,
O Lord, You are my first love, At last I realize.

O Lord, I thought the day would never dawn,
When I would lay my burdens down and walk with You,
But this morning as I greet the rising sun
The fondest of my dreams had all come true.
(Repeat Chorus)

When I woke up this morning, this song came to mind and I began singing it in my head. Maybe it's because the sun is shining so beautifully this morning. Maybe it was because I prayed as I began to sit down and write a post.  Either way, this song is one of my favorite "camp" songs, and brings back special memories of early-morning worship times at camp.

Quite time with the greatest friend you could ever have....that's what this song is about!  If you're like me, I don't have a lot of quiet time.  Someone is always around or something is always making noise.  Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, would retreat to quiet, lonely places. There's a reason He did that. He wanted to talk to His Father - alone.  In the quietness of the day or night.

We will have to retreat or wake up really early (not my favorite thing to do) or "climb a mountain" to get away for solitude to be with God alone.  But, we should strive to make time for quite time with Him....our greatest and best friend.  He wants to be with us.  He should always be our first love.  As the song says above - AT LAST I REALIZE.  At last we should realize all that He is to us and for us.  He is all we need.

  1. When I read that title, I thought, what song is that from? Lyrics speak to me too. I wish I could write songs that stir people's hearts.
