Unless

One of my favorite quotes in Dr. Seuss' book/movie "The Lorax" is this:  "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." It's a true statements, isn't it?  A big part of the movie deals with the word "UNLESS".  It's meaning is just what the quote says...that unless someone cares, nothing will get better.

It reminds me of the "Taters".  You've probably heard of them.  You're probably one of them yourself.  The important question to ask yourself is "Which One Are You?"

Some people never seem motivated to participate but are just content to watch while others do the work. They are called "Spec Taters."
Some people are very bossy and like to tell others what to do, they don't want to soil their own hands. They are called "Dick Taters."
Some people are always looking to cause problems by asking others to agree with them. It is too hot or too cold, too sour or too sweet. They are called "Agi Taters."
There are those who say they will help, but somehow never around to actually doing the promised help. They are called "Hesi Taters."
Some people can put a front and pretend to be someone they are not. They are called "Emma Taters."
Then there are those who love others and do whatever they say they will. They are always prepared to stop whatever they are doing and lend a helping hand. They bring sunshine into the lives of others. They are called, "Sweet Taters."

I'm not sure who wrote this "Tater" tale, but it makes a good point, doesn't it? UNLESS you and I are "Sweet Taters", we've got some changing to do, don't we?  The thing is, we have to care enough.  We have to care enough to make a difference wherever we are.  It's easy to get down.  It's easy to get discouraged.  God will help us if we ask Him to.

UNLESS.  You can make a difference!

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Philippians 2:4

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
John 13:34-35
